Compare hotel accommodation in Honolulu

Honolulu is the capital of the state of Hawaii and an extremely popular tourist destination.  Honolulu experiences a moderate climate throughout the year.  Since temperatures never reach the point of discomfort (either hot or cold), it makes the city perfect for tourists to visit year round.  Just like any city, of course, there are high and low seasons.  So, if you are looking for the best hotel deal in Honolulu or particularly cheap Honolulu hotel accommodation, then it is best to book your trip during one of the off peak periods.

Another great way of saving money on your Honolulu getaway is by booking online in advance.  Online Honolulu hotel bookings can be done from the comfort of your own home and hotels often make their best rates available to online reservations.

Relaxing and scenic outdoor activities

There's something about that evening sun, the soft roar of the waves as they crash on the beach and propping your feet up for a satisfying, relaxing drink.  This is most likely how you will choose to spend your first or even all of your evenings in Honolulu. However, if you really want to make the most of the outdoors, then get ready for some early rising.

There are several hiking areas to explore and there's no better excuse to leave your Honolulu hotel room early and head for the hills. One of the most popular hikes is the Koko Head Crater Trail Hike.  Starting in the Hawaii Kai District Park, you will discover the beauty of the area as you make your way all the way to the top of this magnificent mountain.  It might sound like a lot of effort but the 360 degree view from the top and seeing the Pacific stretched out as far as the eye can see is certainly worth it.

The Makapuu Lighthouse Trail is an easier hike for those who are not able to make the more challenging hikes.  If you visit during whale season (December – April) you could very well catch a glimpse of some of the ocean's most graceful giants.

The Diamond Head trail is another favourite and, when you reach the top, you will be able to enjoy the very best panoramic views of the city.  This is also an easy route and, considering the pay off at the top, it's definitely worth it.  Don't be surprised if you spot some locals running this trail instead of walking!

Water sports are very popular in the warm waters and, if you enjoy snorkelling, then make sure that you visit the Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve.  The Spitting Cave of Portlock is a popular geographical formation and attraction in the area.  If you particularly like this spot, you might be lucky enough to book a room at one of the bed and breakfast accommodation properties nearby.

Experience the Hawaiian culture

You can't visit any city in Hawaii without attending at least one Luau.  The good news is that dinner theatres are plentiful and you can usually get your fill of traditional entertainment along with your meal.  These performances include traditional music, dancing, fire displays and so much more.

There are also several other performance venues that host various shows throughout the year.  Since these are subject to change, it is best to check the local listings before you book your trip and upon arrival once more.  With so many choices, you are bound to see very little of your Honolulu hotel room or suite.

You can also check with your hotel accommodation in Honolulu to see if they offer any such entertainment or if the know where to go for the best shows.  The locals will also be able to point out the hottest shopping spots, bars, clubs, restaurants and more.
