San Diego to Los Angeles
One of the best ways to get the most out of your holiday in California is by picking up a rental car in San Diego Airport and planning a coastal road trip through the most beautiful cities in the state. Starting in San Diego and take advantage of the beaches and their soft sands. Plan to stop at scenic points like Sunset Cliffs Natural Park and Point Loma for some great hiking and superb views. At Point Loma, you will come across a number of additional sights including the Cabrillo National Monument which was built in honour of Cabrillo, the discoverer or San Diego Bay. The Point Loma Lighthouse is another popular attraction in the area.
From San Diego, it's time to make your way to Los Angeles. You might want to spend a few days here at least. With so much to see in the city of angels, you also never know when you might spot a star! Los Angeles to San Francisco
The Pacific Highway coastal road that takes you from Los Angeles to San Francisco is one of the most scenic drives in the country. The road will take you through cities like Santa Monica, Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz and San Jose to name just a few. Depending on how much time you have at your disposal, you can plan to spend a few hours or a few days in each major city along the way. Picking up a small souvenir from each city would make for a great collection.
Once you reach San Francisco, you cannot ignore the world famous Golden Gate Bridge and the view of San Francisco Bay. Take a trip out to Alcatraz and learn all about one of the most infamous prisons in history. If you are familiar with the movie, The Rock, then this should be even more entertaining as you get to see the prison first hand.
There are also plenty of outdoor areas as well as city attractions in San Francisco. Visit the local national park and wildlife areas for a lovely view of the city. In the evening, you can treat yourself to a fabulous night out and enjoy performances by the San Francisco Symphony, the San Francisco Ballet or even attend a comedy show.
