Where to Stay in Hong Kong

A visit to bustling Hong Kong has to be on every avid traveller’s wish-list.  Even if you hate crowds, everyone should visit Hong Kong at least once to get a taste of what it is like to live in this most extraordinary city in the People’s Republic of China.  Hong Kong is known for its incredible skyline and natural harbour, and is home to 7 million people, making it one of the most densely populated places in the world.  There are over 400 Hong Kong hotels waiting to welcome you, so browse our listings now to find the best hotel, cheap accommodation in Hong Kong or obtain the best Hong Kong hotel deals.

Stay in Kowloon on Hong Kong Island

There is an endless debate on this topic – just about each person you ask will give you a different answer!   Many people claim that there is more to do for tourists in Kowloon at night, including many markets and the light show, while others are adamant that you are better off on Hong Kong Island where the majority of the tourist attractions are located.  In fact, Hong Kong has such an efficient, cheap and quick MTR (Metro Hong Kong) system that finding where to stay in Hong Kong is less important than obtaining the best Hong Kong hotel deals to suit your budget.

There is no getting away from the fact that Hong Kong accommodation is expensive, especially if you visit in April, the costliest month.  However, there are bed and breakfast, guest houses and  budget hotels in Hong Kong that will provide good accommodation with fewer facilities, so that you have more to spend on the many attractions and, of course, the shopping!  Some of the best to consider are the Bishop Lei International House, Cosmo Hotel Mongkok and Y-Loft in Chai Wan.  There are also several good hostels in Hong Kong, like the Yesinn Hostel @ Fortress Hill.

Best Hotels in Hong Kong

Hong Kong boasts a staggering 150 4 and 5-star hotels to pamper you, and trying to define which of them should be contenders for the best hotel in Hong Kong award is by no means an easy task.  Here are a few of the Top 10 as voted for by Business Insider:  The Langham Hong Kong (Elegant and gracious European style hotel), The Luxe Manor (something really different – eclectic boutique hotel), W Hong Kong (Slick and modern with great pool), and the Landmark Mandarin Oriental (Very exclusive and expensive – great Spa).

If you want to have a bit more space (many of the cheap hotels in Hong Kong have really cosy rooms!) you may want to rent apartments in Hong Kong.  Apartments are a great choice for families and there are a number to choose from:  The V Wanchai 2 and the CHI Residences are both 4-star apartments in good locations where you have all the benefits of a good hotel with some extra room to spread out in and a kitchenette for basis self-catering.

If you are visiting Hong Kong Disneyland, you may want to stay nearby.  The closest hotel to Disneyland is the Auberge Discovery Bay and Noah’s Ark Resort is just a little further away.  There are several more Hong Kong hotels within 5kms of Disneyworld.  Have fun!
